Lewis Cameron Pvt in Capt John Wall's Company, 2nd Bn Washington Co, Pa Mil ordered to rendezvous Mch 18, 1782. He appears in the same company ordered to rendezvous June 22, 1782. He also appears on the rolls as a Pvt in Capt Samuel Cunningham's Company Washington Co. Mil in service on the Frontiers 1782 to 1785. Lewis Cameron paid taxes in Washington Co, Pa in 1781 on 15 acres of land, a horse and a cow. Bur on the A. R. Hickman farm near Calcutta, O, Columbiana Co (near East Liverpool, O.) The grave is on a ridge marked by three trees which are visible for miles. This Hickman farm being the first burial place in Columbiana Co until the Longs Run Cem was established. Joined Continental Army, served throughout the war. Was Commissioned 1st Lt for meritorious conduct. Part of the time was under the immediate command of Gen Washington. Br around 1759 in Ireland. Mar Miss Mary Long, shortly after the close of war. Children: Abraham, Catherine, Margaret, James, Susanna, Richard M, and Daniel. D 1828, Clinton Twp, Shelby Co, O. Came to this country from Ireland a lad of 15, was tanner's apprentice for 2 yrs. Then joined Revolutionary Army. At the close he settled in Shenuans Valley, Ligonier Co, Pa, where he was mar to Miss Long. Moved to Ohio 1795, in Warren Co, where he built a tannery operating it for 4 yrs. In 1806 moved his family to Shelby Co, O. Locating first in Orange Twp then on land near mouth of Loramie Creek. In 1808 he moved on land which afterwards became town site of Sidney, his family being first white settler making improvements on the same. Bur in Beersheba Cem about 1 1/2 miles southwest of Gnadenhutten. About 1785-90 removed to Va. Came to Ohio in 1802. Farmer. He gave this burying ground off of his farm, and a church was built, but afterwards torn down. GM by descendants who are members of John Reily Chap 1925. After the Rev he lived at Berkley Co, Va then went near Cumberland Gap, Tenn; then to Glasco, Ky and then to Butler Co, O in 1805 or 1806 and died there in 1838. Returned later and entered land 3 miles east of Lima. Built cabin on banks of Lost Creek in center of what is now Lima's principal reservoir for municipal water works purpose. Was in the whiskey rebellion under Washington. Father came to this country fr Scotland; mother from Ireland. Children: Daniel (wife Isabella); William (wife Hannah); Margaret, Polly, Benjamin (d June 23, 1872, aged 75 yrs. 2 mos, 24 days—wife Ann d Apr 18, 1859, aged 65 yrs.) William (d July 7, 1879. aged 86 yrs, 5 mos, 18 days. Was in war of 1812, 90 days. His wife d Aug 12, 1845, aged 49 yrs.) D Huntington Twp, Ross Co, O. Bur on his farm, his stone gone. Those of above standing. Family lived at Portsmouth a short time and then came to Chillicothe in 1798. Lived in the town for four yrs, then three yrs on the nearby hill. Then bought a farm of 260 acres from Gen Massie, where he and his five children and wife lived. Was a hunter. One of first to keep sheep. Lost 40 at one time by wolves. Elected Justice of Peace in 1811, one of first three in the twp. Was captain of the mil for several yrs. Helped to cut the old Zane trace, now known as the limestone road. Grave on the edge of a field, under an elm tree, by his brother Michael and wife. A minister in the M. E. Church as was his brother, Samuel. He was a close friend of and co-worker with Bishop Asbury, who in 1788 appointed him to the village of Pittsburgh, Pa. where he spent seven yrs as preacher and presiding elder.
