Was told by several who lived near that in building the new church in 1900 quite a few of the older gravestones were removed to make room for the new church. Beyond a reasonable doubt, there lies bur at the confluence of the Big Auglaize and Little Auglaize Rivers a Revolutionary soldier, Captain Brown, who was placed in command of the Fort at this location, named Fort Brown, in honor of its commander. A little town was platted by Miller Arrowsmith, in 1835 and was known as Ft Brown, I believe it was the first PO in Brown Twp, Paulding Co. Plat in the recorder's office. James Bobenmeyer, Oakwood, O, has a clear mind running back many yrs. He remembers old portions of the Ft. He says that not only Capt Brown, but two other soldiers possibly Rev. were bur there. MI: "Nathaniel Burrell, born at Abington, Mass, May 21, 1761, died Oct 14, 1842. He served four terms of enlistment in the Revolutionary Army." GM first by youngest son, Almond H, sandstone, and fell to pieces; second, by descendent Almond Rochester Burrell, New Lexington, O. Date of marking; 1st unknown; 2nd Sept 19, 1922. When he first offered to enl, being but 4 ft. 4 in. tall he was refused. He put "rags" in his boots till his head touched the peg at 4 ft 4 in. He was accepted. Farming; received a grant of land.
